In this post I explain the Sun’s Out Grills Out design inspiration. This is one of my favorite slogans to say out loud. And I love wearing this shirt no matter the weather. Yet, I do wear it the most during the Summer.

Where Did The Slogan Come From?

This slogan is another play from a famous saying that’s pretty popular in the world. That phrase is “Sun’s Out, Guns Out.” That is usually said by guys when the Summer hits because they want to show off their biceps (their “guns.”) And I get it because during the Winter you can’t show off your arms like that unless you live in a warm location. Yet, I do see guys (and some ladies) showing off their arms in cold weather because they are going to or coming from the gym.

I made this slogan because when the sun comes out for longer periods of time then it’s time for me to grill. However, I do grill all throughout the year but I especially love to grill during the Summer. Because I wanted to display my love of charcoal grilling in the Summer sun I made this design.

How Did I Create The Design?

I get my images from Unsplash and Pexels. The images for the Sun’s Out Grills Out design inspiration was to be the fire from the grill. I knew I wanted a charcoal fire for the image but I didn’t know if I wanted to show the grill or not. I tried different images during creating this design to see how it looked. These versions included overhead shots of the grill’s grate with fire, or a side shot of a charcoal grill. I didn’t like those versions.

I finally found an image I love which was gray charcoal briquets which instantly drew me in. So I downloaded and edited the images in GIMP to add the slogan and do other fixes.

Creating this design took some time to make because of the different versions I made featuring different images. That happens and it’s just part of the creation process.
